Meet Managing Director Marcia Blackstock

I am a mother of one, to Jessica Joyce. We call her Jay Jay for short. I am sensitive to couples with infertility issues as I struggled with infertility myself for years.

I am a Registered Mental Nurse with over 25 years experience. I have worked in a variety of clinical and community settings. I have a wealth of expertise in nursing management and have had success and many numerous achievements. For example I was instrumental in leading Willow View Psychiatric Day Hospital (formerly Tamar Day Hospital) to Charter Mark Status. With my long history working in the caring profession, my own difficult experiences during pregnancy, and my interest in helping other women during their pregnancy and after, I felt that the role of a doula was something that appealed to me and I felt that I could develop this.

Along with my colleagues, I was instrumental in driving forward and developing the first ever Combined Antepartum/Birth/Postnatal Doula academic university training.

I feel extremely passionate about the role of the role of a doula in pregnancy. My mission is to do whatever it takes to continue to improve standards in the delivery of doula care. At Doula Consultancy Services, we pride ourselves on our excellent Doula service. We offer Doulas that are caring and compassionate.

Breastfeeding is a choice and I by no means pressure women to breastfeed, but I encourage women to give it a try. I never thought I would breastfeed, but I tried it and enjoyed it once I got the hang of things. I breastfed/formula fed my daughter for six months.

I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. My role as a Doula does not conflict with my role as a Registered Nurse.
